So, let's start at the top. Hack and Slash...
Most newbies love this Hack and Slash system. Not only is this system more 'accurate' i.e. realistic button clicking with actions (real sword swinging etc..), but also is it very easy to use and understand. One can argue that the hack and slash system would be best suited for a good chronicle, in fact.. This system would be perfect for a chronicle right?
No! The hack and slash system is may be more realistic compared to the rolling system, however the Hack and slash system (H&S) does not allow a stable difficulty for a chronicle meaning battles with another player may be unfair or too short. Unlike the rolling system, the H&S system makes the game much harder to control. When a player increases in level, the battles become easier, thus more battles need to be added to make the battle 'harder'. This takes away the stability of the H&S system. The player could take down an army of sabbat and still live, effusively making the player a god. The Hack and Slash system doesn't mix well with a balanced role playing game (Chronicle) from this effect and is best fitted in a similar format to 'Single player' with many levels of Hack and Slash e.g. Single player London.
The more stable Rolling System...

"Kill on sight!" - Mess Around Games
- AoR game. AoR is a mod that lets you play single player online.
- Duels - you are given a gun and you fight each other, one point for each kill (might seem childish but it’s fun ;) )
- Mini games, like zombie survival or C4 madness. Just random BS.
- Anything non-role play related really.
The Age of Redemption
AoR is actually a mod which was crated by ‘Rainmoon’ also known as ‘Jav’ and a few other names. AoR games refer to playing single player online via the Hack and Slash system. (You can find Javs site here)
Most AORs have no storyline and tend to be running around in a group chatting like you would on MSN, Yahoo, Hamachi etc… Some AOR games do have a minor storyline if the player wishes it however.
Very rarely hosted, in fact, it might be that we don't host such games anymore. A duel game would split up the players (around 2 – 4 a team) placing them on a map with monsters, NPCs etc... The objective would be to kill the other teams as many times as possible.
"You can run, but you can't hide from the ST." - Free Form Games!
There are many types of free form. The most commonly type of Free Form is when the ‘player’ goes around the map talking to other players. NYCRPG's games are a good example of this. These type of Free Form also known as ‘FF’ are heavily based upon the player and not the ST.
The other type of FF is known to be slightly more organized i.e. more of a storyline and less reluctant on the player. V's games (From ICT) (See active groups) are a good example as are Trogers2's and Anruca's FF games. These games are usually made up upon starting and tend to be played with the players all in one group.
"Ahh at last..!" - The Chronicles...
A Chronicle will have a very structured game play style, ShadowLance's/Ze shadow's, Trogers2's (main chronicle), Matt's (from ICT) games are good examples of a chronicle. Most chronicles require what is called ‘A character sheet’ (Pen and paper) or ‘Bio’ for none pen and paper based games. If you want to participate in these chronicles, submit your sheet here.
